Alianda is a boutique Orlando ad agency. We use this blog to share knowledge and provide useful tips to established marketers and start-up enterprises. We post about advertising, logo design, naming, direct mail, web solutions and more; offering insights into how we work, what we've done and what we're up to now.

Promote Your Fruits and Vegetables

Alianda is the Orlando, Florida advertising agency that created a group of fruit and vegetable characters ideal for industry promotions. Twenty exquisitely drawn fruit and vegetable characters are available for use by fruit and vegetable associations and promotional boards. The characters, called The Frugies, are a whimsical band of merrimakers designed to represent the entire universe of fresh produce. Designed by the legendary Mad Magazine artist Mort Drucker, The Frugies include characters representing the following fruits and vegetables: tomatoes, broccoli, pears, peaches, apples, oranges, pineapples, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, lettuce, corn, onions, grapes, green peppers, watermelon, strawberries and bananas. The Frugies are available for licensing by promotional boards and fresh produce associations. As an advertising agency, Alianda is available to create marketing materials, print ads, web banners, radio and TV commercials and any other required pieces featuring the characters. The Frugies fruit and vegetable characters are also available to promote state fairs built around regionally grown fruits and vegetables. Alianda will provide the characters and the creative materials, giving the state fair marketing team a one-stop promotional solution for an exciting event. Many of The Frugie characters have traits that are related to the characteristics of real fruits and vegetables. For example, Madam Carla the Carrot has a crystal ball because her eyesight is so good she can see into the future. Tina Tomato is in therapy with an identity crisis– she just isn’t sure if she’s a fruit or a vegetable. Onion Joy is, naturally, a crybaby. Peach Velour is smooth and sexy and Adam Apple is all-American to the core! To see this wacky band of fruits and vegetables visit www.alianda.com/greetingcards. Frugies greeting cards are also available to fruit and vegetable boards and may be customized with text that references your group. The cards are a great way to promote your region’s fresh produce. For information about using The Frugies fruit and vegetable characters to promote your regional produce or produce-related event, agricultural fair, or agri-tourism attraction, contact Mitchell Erick at 407-694-5210.

Alianda Lives United

Alianda, the Orlando ad agency and creative boutique, recently wrote and produced a song for the Heart of Florida United Way using United Way’s Live United theme. The Live United theme was created by United Way’s national ad agency McCann Erickson. Alianda principal Mitchell Erick, while serving on United Way’s local marketing committee, was inspired by the Live United theme and wrote the song as a rallying cry to encourage involvement with the charitable organization. The song will be used in local radio and television public service announcements. Mike Rubino, a composer in L.A., wrote the music. The vocalist is Angela Michael. Jud Haskins, of Horrible Music in L.A., was the executive producer. Visit our home page to hear the song! http://www.alianda.com

Orlando Logo Design

How much should you pay for a logo? As a creative boutique, Alianda provides a full range of creative branding and advertising services. If you are looking to brand or re-brand your company, Alianda offers a balanced  approach to logo development. We have created logos for FedEx, American Airlines, Disney, United Arts and dozens of small businesses. You will find that pricing for branding services is all over the map. Large branding firms in New York and elsewhere may charge as much as $75,000 for logo development. At the opposite extreme are the online logo factories that will provide a handful of logos for a few hundred dollars. Alianda provides all the professional expertise and award-winning creativity of a New York branding firm yet our fees are not remotely close to theirs.  We’ve rarely charged over $4000 for a logo, and typically the cost may even be lower when part of a branding package that also includes stationary, business cards, sales folios, brochures, etc. We typically provide a minimum of 12 unique logo concepts. Selected logos are refined and modified until a final is chosen. We work with you until you’re happy. You can get logos much cheaper through some of the online logo firms. You won’t get a lot of variety but you may get lucky. It’s a gamble. We invite you to look at our logo development process by downloading a file from our website on this page: http://www.alianda.com/portfolio/logodesign.html. Alianda is an Orlando, Florida advertising agency and creative boutique founded by ex-Disney marketing executives. In addition to logo design we provide website design, advertising and strategic marketing services.

Hotel Marketing Success

What are the critical marketing pieces that drive sales for the hotel marketing team? Alianda has worked with properties in Orlando, Grand Cayman, Utah and Wyoming. The most successful engagements have been those in which we created from scratch a cohesive program of printed and web-based solutions designed to build the hotel brand and drive sales for the people on the front lines of the hotel  marketing effort. The fact is, too many flagged properties rely on their corporate parents for the totality of their identities. And too many independent hotels work with a less than complete set of hotel marketing solutions. We have seen firsthand how creating a unique identity can drive the efforts of the DOSM and we present here a list of the key hotel marketing deliverables that should form the basis of your hotel marketing toolkit once you have settled on the positioning of your hotel or resort.

  • Pocketed sales folio
  • Rack brochure
  • Tri-fold or larger image brochure
  • Fact sheets
  • 4-page, 8×11 (typically) Meetings Guide
  • 4-page Celebrations Guide
  • 4-page Weddings Guide
  • 10-12 page (typically) Meetings E-brochure
  • 10-12 page Celebrations E-brochure
  • 10-12 page Leisure E-brochure
  • Postcards (F&B, weddings, quinceanera, etc.)
  • Website redesign
  • E-newsletter template
  • Banner ads, print ads
  • Integrated e-commerce initiatives

A Radisson resort property implemented our program of materials and has generated 16% and 18% revenue increases in the meetings and weddings markets. The e-brochures, used as email attachments, have been especially useful in closing deals to target market prospects. Freelance Orlando Copywriter and Graphic Designer

Sometimes the best choice for Orlando and central Florida businesses in need of marketing support is to hire a freelance copywriter or graphic designer and work with them on a per project basis. Since Alianda is primarily a project-oriented creative boutique it’s OK to just think of us as glorified freelancers. It won’t hurt our feelings! The difference is that we are a freelance copywriter and art director team delivering professional logo and website design, advertising and collateral to clients in Orlando and elsewhere. We have worked with clients across the country and throughout the Caribbean and offer deep knowledge of travel, hospitality, themed entertainment, destinations, economic development, technology, retail and other business categories. Naturally, if you just need a freelance copywriter, Alianda is the perfect choice. Mitchell Erick has worked as a copywriter with major agencies in New York and Hawaii. For a freelance graphic designer, Alianda’s Daniel Moye is a superb choice. Mitchell and Daniel worked as a team at Walt Disney World and they’ve continued their partnership at Alianda for almost 10 years. Looking for an Orlando freelance copywriter or freelance graphic designer or art director? We’re right here: http://www.alianda.com/index.html

Name Development: Naming Your Company, Product or Service

Any good copywriter can generate names, which means that any good ad agency is a potential vendor for your naming project. Problem is, there are too many ad agencies to choose from, which is why many naming assignments go to professional naming companies. There are far fewer of them, making it easier to choose. A naming company will do an exhaustive job but if budget is a consideration, they may not be the best choice for your naming project. Sometimes you just want to see a list of possible names without all the services that a naming company provides. These services include competitive analysis, brand positioning, trademark research and testing. If you are not prepared to pay for a soup-to-nuts approach to naming and would prefer to go straight to name development then consider an ad agency that at least has a track record of generating imaginative and memorable names. When Alianda works on naming assignments we typically generate anywhere between 100 and 300 names; names that may be suggestive of a feature, benefit or experience, and names that just sound good and different. We’re often asked about the origin of the name Alianda. Many small companies often find their unique name through a process of combining family names or parts of family names. It’s a tried and true technique and that’s exactly what Alianda is–a combination of select syllables from Alicia, Kiana and Daniel– the wife and kids of the company’s founder. In addition to mixing and matching parts of names, you’ll also generate lists of possibilities by playing around with prefixes and suffixes and combining them with different words (or parts of words) suggestive of any number of concepts and ideas that may apply to the nature of your company, product or service. Naming is a wordsmith’s delight. You should expect to see lots of good choices. Narrow the list, follow your gut, get other people’s opinions and just name it!
